Corporate African Team Building Drumming Events

By bryanjohn on June 10th, 2011

The djembe, a type of West African drum, is becoming a popular item for drum enthusiasts. In fact, there are a large number of team building drum circles in the United Kingdom that meet regularly to play together and share their mutual enjoyment of this unique drum. In these days of computer-generated social interaction, the personal contacts made through such social groups are a great diversion.

Children respond very well to music and rhythm. Using hand drums or djembe drums in team building is a great way to involve everyone. It makes each child feel part of the group or band.

Beating on a drum engages the right side of your brain, taking pressure off of an overtaxed left-brain. After a day of hard work, drums allow you to relax, giving yourself time to reboot before the next day’s work.

Among the group of membranophone instruments is the djembe. Typically made from wood it is shaped like a large goblet over which is stretched an animal skin. One of the most popular drums of West Africa, when struck properly it produces a deep bass sound thanks to its shell shaped body. Drumming is a rhythmic expression of emotion and an expression of life. Nowhere is this more evident than in drums that are played with one’s own hands. West Africa drums allow anyone to experience the joy of expressing themselves in music.

For teachers of music, the West Africa drum can bring the joy of music into the more rhythmically inclined of students. Introducing West African drums to a line up of other simple to use instruments can build up teamwork and cooperation among students of any age and skill level.

If you’re interested in playing a Djembe drum, it’s best if you do some online research and find more about the subject. You can visit a drum group such as http://www.unbeatable-energy.co.uk who hold regular evening classes and perform in schools and colleges as well as corporate events.

How To Save Money With An Electric Wall Heater

By bryanjohn on June 10th, 2011

There are a lot of people who are doing whatever it takes to cut back the costs of living. Basic costs such as electric, gas, and water bills are too high for some and they are looking for ways to save a little money without having to sacrifice comfort and basic necessities of life. A good way to cut down on electric bills is to turn off the main air and heating system and use supplemental appliances such as an electric wall mounted heater or window unit air conditioner.

By turning down the setting on the central air and heating, one can save a pretty good percentage off their monthly electric or gas bill. This is particularly true for large homes and businesses. Using the main system to heat or cool a large space can take up a lot of power.

Using a space heater or a small window air conditioner does not use up a lot of power. This means a lower bill with great results as far as temperature regulation goes. When living or working in a large space, using a small heater or air conditioner is great for regulating the temperature of just the area that is in use.

Older homes and businesses that are more than one level and have older insulation are ideal spaces for such appliances. Using a heater to warm the area that is in use will not cost a lot and will provide a lot of heat in that concentrated area. Same thing goes for window air conditioning units. They use little electrical output and yet have a high quality cool air flow that will bring down the temperature in the space being used.

There are several types of small heaters and range in price from very inexpensive to the more professional grade expensive types. For small jobs such as an added kick of warmth to keep toes warm, a small travel sized heater is ideal. These are great to use under a desk that is by a breezy airway.

Bigger heaters work very well in larger rooms, especially if they are open or drafty. Placing one in a corner of a room and turning it on will provide instant warmth. These are also nice for rooms that do not have an adequate number of heating vents. Older buildings especially may not have more than one air vent in a large room, or the vent may be placed in an odd place like the ceiling.

Using an electric wall hung heater can be very economical and convenient. Supplementing the heat that comes from the central system in a building is a great way to save money and improve the air flow. No matter what type of budget one is on, there is an appliance that will be just right for them.
